Panther Band Success!
Solo and Ensemble Success! (April 2021)
At the end of a crazy year, we were allowed to host our Solo and Ensemble contest at Patti Welder. Our students came home with 81 first division medals! We are so proud of their dedication and resilience!
UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Success! (March 2021)
Both the Concert and Symphonic Bands have worked hard to prepare for the UIL Evaluation. The students have worked on three pieces of music, trying to deliver a perfect performance. During the Sight-Reading process, the students have seven minutes to look at a brand new piece of music, and then perform it for a judge. Both of our bands made great progress! A special congratulations goes to our Symphonic Band who received straight 1's in the sight-reading portion, bringing home a plaque!
Mid-Coast Region Band Auditions! (November 2019)
Our Panther Band members had a great showing at the Region Band Tryouts! This year, we had 25 students score high enough to make a Region Band. A special shoutout goes to Nate Blackshear (Percussion) and Nashawn Martinez (Tuba) who got 1st chair overall, meaning they placed higher than any other student in the audition.
Middle School Band Night! (October 2019)
The VWHS Band invited 7th and 8th grade band students from Patti Welder and Cade to play with them at their football game. We had 75 students from Patti Welder attend this game, and there were almost 300 band students total between Patti Welder, Cade, and West! It was a great night!
Solo and Ensemble Success! (April 2019)
Our Middle School Solo and Ensemble Contest was on Saturday, April 13th at Patti Welder Middle School. Our Panthersbrought home 91 "1st Division" medals! We are extremely proud of their success!

A special congratulations goes to our Symphonic Band, who brought home the "Sweepstakes" trophy from UIL this year. They got ratings of 112 on the stage performance and straight 1's in sight-reading!
Mid-Coast Region Band Success! (November 2018)
Our Panther Band members SHOWED UP this morning at Region Band Tryouts! For these auditions, every band student from Cade, Howell, Stroman, and Calhoun prepares the same scales and music starting in early September. They play this music individually for judges, who score them based on how well they can play the material. Students are then ranked according to their instrument, and if they score high enough, are invited to play in a Region Band, which is made up of the top band students in our area. We had 24 students audition this morning, and 15 made a Region Band!
