Victoria ISD is excited to announce its brand-new T-STEM Engineering pathway beginning in fall 2022 at Victoria East High School.

In March, VISD announced receiving the T-STEM planning designation award, which will provide opportunities for students interested in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in Texas schools.

The T-STEM Engineering pathway was created in collaboration with Victoria College (VC) and the University of Houston-Victoria (UHV). The Texas STEM initiative is aimed to increase the number of students entering post-secondary studies and careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The initiative strives to prepare students for academic and professional careers in mathematics, engineering, science and technology. In addition, T-STEM will assist in the long-term educational and economic development, and alignment in these fields with the intent of increasing the number of women and minority students that go into STEM fields.

Recruiting for the new pathway along with recruiting for the VISD Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH) began in mid-November.

The T-STEM pathway will have 25 seats available. If more than 25 students request to be considered for the pathway, a lottery will be held to identify students who will enroll in the pathway. An advisory meeting for T-STEM was held in October and information on the pathway was shared with attendees.

Save the date! A P-TECH/T-STEM Showcase is scheduled for all VISD eighth grade students on Tuesday, Jan. 25 at 5:30 p.m., where families and students can learn more about the pathways available and application process. More information for the showcase will be shared soon.

Students and their parents/guardians will learn more about the pathway options firsthand from teachers and current students. Administrators will then share information about the application process, lottery process, important dates to remember, and more.
