Victoria ISD is pleased to announce the transition of Dr. Gina Vilches into the role of principal at Patti Welder Middle School for the 2026-27 school year.
Dr. Vilches currently serves as Dean of Students at VISD Success Academy, where she has supported student success, campus culture, and student engagement at the secondary level. Dr. Vilches previously served as principal of Chandler Elementary School in Victoria ISD and principal of Goliad Middle School in Goliad ISD, bringing leadership experience at both the elementary and secondary levels.
In addition to her campus leadership experience, Dr. Vilches has served as a secondary counselor and assistant principal, and has spent nearly 10 years in the classroom as an educator. Her diverse background in student support, instructional leadership, and campus administration provides a strong foundation for leading Patti Welder Middle School.
Dr. Vilches holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Her experience across multiple grade levels and educational settings makes her exceptionally well-qualified to lead Patti Welder Middle School and support students during the important middle school years.
Victoria ISD is excited for Dr. Vilches as she transitions into this new leadership role and looks forward to the experience, leadership, and student-centered approach she will bring to Patti Welder Middle School.
